Little blue cows and one little piglet

There is something about cow creamers that appeal so much to
a lot of people.
One of those is a dear blogger, Shelia from Note Songs
I promised Shelia (also a collector of cow creamers)
that I would post my collection
Pop over to Note Songs and check out Shelia's pretty collection http://www.notesongs.com/

Although mine are all blue and white,I plan expanding to others when
I can find them.

This pretty one is from Japan and has a windmill scene on one side
like most of them do,and flowers on this side

This little miss is heavier and made by Delph, also with a windmill

I love this little fella on the left,he's so cute, but not a creamer
He's a salt pot,but hey I don't mind that one bit. He fits in nicely
in my little farm yard.
His mama, I think is a lid off a butter dish. One day I will find her bottom
She doesn't seem to mind because she sits all the time.

The little farm yard is growing slowly but they are hard to find on my budget

This little duo, is a salt and pepper, but cute too

Little fat piglet joins the group, and a pepper pot too.

Spinach and ricotta pie for lunch

I found this recipe on Pinterest
I think it's so pretty.
I forgot to take a photo after it was baked,so it looks a little pale here

It's an Italian recipe and I call it an Italian Sunburst

The recipe is so easy

Dough
500grms flour
200mls warm white wine (I found I needed more than this so just keep adding as needed)
90mls extra virgin olive oil(I also added a little more oil)
2 tspns salt
Bring it all together into a dough
Wrap in plastic wrap and put in the fridge for 30mins
Meanwhile  cook a large bunch spinach until tender
Drain and squeeze out most moisture, cool
Mix with 350grms ricotta cheese and 1 egg
then 100grms of tasty cheese grated pecorino or similar
Salt and pepper
breadcrumbs (optional)

Divide dough into 2 and roll each out into 30cm circles
Place 1st one on a baking paper sheet Sprinkle on some breadcrumbs
then add stuffing,as follows
A little mound in the centre and leaving a space around this,
place a circle of filling leaving a little space around the edge.
Wet around the edge with water.
Place the second piece of dough on top
Press an upside cup over the centre and press all around the cup with a fork to form a pattern
then remove the cup

Press the dough all around and over the second circle of filling
Trim the edges and decorate with a fork
Cut into slices all around as in picture, then twist each one over on its side.
as in picture
Brush with egg and transfer to a baking tray and bake
in a moderate oven until golden and base cooked well.

We had friends for lunch and teamed the pie with
a nice crisp salad and salmon mornay

I set the table with a pink, shabby chic look
Plain pink and pink with rosebuds napkins
and fresh rose buds in a little vase

I made the napkin rings out of white fabric creating  a rose on top

Garden changes.

We have made big changes in the back garden
We decided to plant some green manure in the cleared areas
to rejuvenate the soil ready for planting out.

As we will be putting roses in here it can grow and then rest until
the cooler weather.

These were the tree ferns which had suffered badly in the heat wave
and although they have come back quite nicely,we decided to take
them out and put roses in here

We advertised the tree ferns on Gumtree and they sold
They are going to a good home in the hills where they
will be cool and protected under trees.

We are going to dig in blood and bone and lots of mulch
to get ready for the roses.

Beans growing nicely and this year covered in red flowers
Last year they were white

The capsicums are doing well
I left these plants in from last year
and they are still producing

The dwarf beans are coming up nicely too in the seed tray
These ones will be yellow

Herbs in pots doing well

I read on Pinterest that you can cut the root from a stick of celery
and plant it. This is the result when I tried it. Amazing

The apricot tree in a barrel,I grew from a stone
This is 3yrs old now. Should be fruiting next Christmas

Strawberries

Capsicums,tomatoes, silver beet and spinach

I think this is a pumpkin
It's come up from the dish water we throw on the garden

This palm ( I've forgotten the name) is in the way of where
the roses are going,so we've transplanted it into a pot

This rose "Clair Rose"
will be transplanted into the new bed

It is getting too tall for its pot

Canna

Teasing Georgia

A new climber we planted in September last year
I'ts nearly to the top of the arch and so pretty

The old bay tree keeps on keeping on

A bit of tidying to do here

This space at the side of the house is ideal for veggies

We've taken out old palms here to extend the veggie garden

Well that's the garden organized again
Can't wait to plant the roses.
Have to wait for some cooler weather though.
I hope you're enjoying whatever you're doing this weekend

Rain Rain beautiful Rain, the garden is smiling

These are our tree ferns after the heat wave
but do you see the green shoots
We have had 3 days solid of beautiful rain, torrential rain.

Another fern,another green shoot

My new David Austin Rose Teasing Georgia
Its smiling after the lovely rain

The veggie garden is smiling too
This once yellow capsicum turned bright red ,
so sweet

The beans are so strange this year
They are climbing all over the arbours, but instead of beans
there are little red pea type flowers ?
This one has had some little sucking insects that I can't see
sucking the life out of the leaves. The ones on the other arch have
been left alone, but still no beans ?

Rocket springing up its little heads.
I've used my worm farm containers to plant seeds
as the worms all died in the heat :( even though I covered them and cooled them with water

One little carrot peeping through
can you see it?

Basil loved the heat and went mad everywhere
I made lots of Pesto

2 dwarf yellow beans showing through

Enjoy your weekend and hope you had a lovely Valentines Day
