PICNIC

Had a lovely picnic today at the water shed which is a resturant surrounded by wetlands and a picnic spot. A lovely place.  Birds were in abundance and the frogs making themselves heard everywhere

The day started lovely

It is such a beautiful day today and the sun is shining,  Went to the shops with my hubby and grandaughter, we were really happy, then I shut my finger in the car door, oooooooch. Spent the first1/2 hour trying to stem the blood flow in the chemist, got it bandaged by the pharmacist.  The throbbing soon stopped and we did end up enjoying the morning shopping.  I should practice what I preach next time.  Close the door with the handle, not by the top of the door. :(

A STRANGER IN MY GARDEN

I was wondering through my garden today and came across a stranger.  I don't know from whence it came, but this little plant with it's plaited little stem was sitting there with it's little almost black flowers some still in bud. I thought it was an iris until I noticed the strange pattern of it's stem and different little flower.  I wonder what it is?

LATEST IN MY GARDEN

Spring is certainly here. I have started spring cleaning and the garden has bulbs and little surprises popping up in places where they weren't planted. I love going out there and finding new things. My Azalia is starting to bloom, I love the colour. Have a nice day xx

freebies

Don't you find that other peoples trash can be your treasure. I just love recycling like these chairs and chest. A nice piece of bright coloured fabric covers the seat beautifully as well as a lick of paint. Pretty glass pink knobs on the chest look so shabby chic.  Both belonging to my daughter who has now got the recycling bug.

SCONE DOILEY

I thought I would make a little doiley to keep my homemade scones warm in their basket on the table. I purchased a vintage doiley and wrote the word scones on the middle with a dissapearing pen. The ink fades after a few hours then dissapears completely. I embroidered around the letters in satin stitch.

SMILEY FACES

I can't resist the little smiley faces of pansies and although they should be just about coming to an end mine seem to be better than at the beginning of winter. What could be nicer than a single pansy in a pretty cup and saucer

one of my collections

I collect purfume bottles and am always on the lookout for ones of unusual shape. These are some of them

my inspiration

I am totally hooked on the uk tv programme The edible garden with Alys Fowler. I first discovered her on Gardeners World and was mesmerised by this gorgeous redheaded bundle of enthusiasm. I can't wait for Saturdays to come around so I can watch this lovely programme. I was born in the town where Alys lives in her Victorian terrace. She has turned her ornamental garden into an edible one and has a couple of chickens called Alys and Gertrude which she just loves to bits and talks to them like they were her children, she feeds them by hand with strawberries and goodies grown in her garden. Her little dog Isy (short for Isabelle) looks on.
It is a programme that shouldn't be missed, if like me you love to garden sustainably.
When it is too wet to be out in her garden she is in the kitchen baking and making all sorts of things from the goodies she grows. Her last baking session was lavender biscuits which I can't wait to make when my lavender comes into flower.
