A Gift I will treasure forever

I am so delighted with the new addition to my family.
I have named her Dorothy.  She is about 50-60years old and was given to me by a friend of  a friend who came to my fundraising afternoon tea a few weeks ago.

Dorothy has glued on hair and has the clothes that my friends mother made for her including panties, knitted cross over singlet and petticoat.

She saw how I so loved dolls, especially baby ones. Well I do have a few.

This little lovely was hers when she was a lass in England.

How nice to want her childhood doll to go to a loving home.

Happy New Year to all my dear blogger friends
and I look forward to visiting you all in 2012

Thank you all so very much for your kind comments throughout the year,it has been a real pleasure visiting you all too.

Relaxation time

Now that all the hectic Chistmas celebrations are over, time for some craft.

Do I embroider,crochet,knit or sew,hmmm?

Love craft time, but now, do I finish some UFO's?

Crochet edges for hand towels

Napkins

Embroidery

Smocking

Quilting

Embellishing

Decorated bag

Lavender cushions and bag

I'm just going through my sewing room, thinking.  It takes a whole day to sort and think.

I still can't get inspiration, maybe I need to just chill out for a day or two.

Are you all feeling the same?

My hands won't keep still, neither will my mind. I think I need a good book.

I could go on a picnic, especially as we received the most beautiful picnic basket for Christmas from our daughter, son in law and children.

I am linking up with A Delightsome Life today
and Ivy and Elephants

Happy New Year everyone. Keep safe

A little peak into my Christmas

Who can resist lovely fragrant candles, especially at Christmas
This one is Vanilla and Brown Sugar
It smells Christmas

Silver and blue in the sunroom

My blog has been renamed, but I havn't worked out how to change it on my picassa yet,so the old name is still showing
Pearly wreath

Pointsettias just speak Christmas, even silk ones

Such an Angelic little face, cherubs and little statuettes like this one I can't resist
when I find them during my op shop hunt.  This one cost only $2 a few years ago

The Mantle

I made this stocking from scraps of velvet and satin

This lovely Royal Albert decoration was a gift from a friend and I love it

                                                           Part of my Santa collection

One of my treasured Myer Christmas Bears
I am always on the lookout for more
But this one is my favourite

The man himself, Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without him

And all the happiness he brings with him in his golden sled

The whole meaning of Christmas which we mustn't forget in all the excitement

I got this little reindeer at Spotlight for $2.50 on special, it's paper mache'

I spray painted it white and then sprinkled it with glitter, then added the little bell.

He will take his place on the Christmas dinner table.

I had these little

masks in my Christmas crate, but can't decide whether to use them this year.

I made this apron and it hangs near the cooker, all ready for cooking up a feast

A trial run on the

table setting, in the sunroom

A picture from my favourite cookery book of mince pies

The cake is finished,  I'm not flash at icing cakes, but I think it will be appreciated by the children.

My version of mince pies.

Merry Christmas
It's Show and Tell Monday at House in the Roses
Show and Tell Friday at My Romantic Home

Fresh picked veggies on pink china

The veggie garden is producing some lovely crisp organic veggies

I picked beans, tomatoes, baby spinach and lettuce today
What a lovely combination to go with homemade lasagne, ummmm

I decided to use my pink shabby china and pink French wine glasses because I am joining Beverly for Pink Saturday at How Sweet the Sound

The tommy tomatoes are so sweet and seem to produce masses

Cos Lettuce doing very well growing alongside the Marigolds
I heard that Marigolds keep the bugs at bay, we'll see.

Lots of our herbs do well in the barrels, like the basil and coriander

Capsicums doing well in front too

These are Black Russion tomatoes, but no fruit yet
We also have Big Red too which are fruiting

The Strawberries are giving us some fruit every couple of days.

Trying to keep the birds off them is proving to be a challenge.

I hope you are having a nice week

Baby shawl, my latest Craft Project

My latest craft project

Crocheted baby shawl

I had some left over wool from a past project, which had been sitting in my knitting basket waiting for a new project inspiration

I sat down with my crochet hook and started with just a simple double crochet

I got hooked (pardon the pun) and just kept going round and round.

Then I started treble crochet and created a scalloped edge, which I think just adds a little, pretty finish

I didn't really know in the

beginning what it would be,but it became obvious as It got bigger, and the colour white lent inself to a baby shawl.

As I make Christening gowns, I thought a shawl would be appropriate.

I may just open an Etsy shop.

What do you think?
