This is the first year we are not giving christmas presents we have all everything we need and it has come home to my children how much they have as they have both moved house in the last 12 months. They have left extra stuff at my house and called charities to pick it up but no one turned up so we all must just all have too much. Merle..................
Dearest Jeanette-Ann, That is SO true! Christmas is hardly recognizable nowadays as it is such a frenzy of shopping. Way too commercial and it serves nobody in fact. People buy things they don't need with money they don't have... It serves the government as they rake in quite an amount on sales tax (at least here in the USA with our system). Thinking about my previous post where we visited the Leprosy hospital in Jakarta, Indonesia where Princess Diana visited before, it makes you THINK twice. Both of us have never given gifts for Christmas but only on Saint Nicholas's birthday on December 6. And for years we don't even do that as we have most of the things we need. No impulsive 'must' buy gifts. Far better for finding special sales throughout the year at outlet stores. No rush, nothing. Wishing you and your loved ones a very Happy and Meaningful Christmas period! Hugs, Mariette
