Corner cabinet redo

I have wanted for so long to paint this corner cabinet
It looked really nice when it was in the dining room
as it matched the kitchen cabinets
but now it's in the sun room,it really was too dark.

The other day when we were having tea in there,I
mentioned to hubby again, how I would like to paint the cupboard
He did what he usually does when I mention painting anything
Rolled the eyes, looked up to the ceiling and tutted and said
"Well don't look at me, I hate painting"
Well, did I say I wanted him to do it, NO
I Love painting and certainly wanted to tackle this myself.
You see,I take all the hardware off and the doors and even take out the glass
if it's possible.
I am always disapointed if I don't prepare well

Now all back in it's place
but do I distress it and what knobs will I put on it?

Yes decision made
distressed,just a little for now
and had to put on crystal knobs to match another little side table
I have put in this room, that I'd redone previously

The little side table

Now I had mentioned to hubby (at the same time of the eye roll)
That if I did paint the corner cupboard, then the little stereo cupboard in
the other corner would look odd,as it is dark wood.

"Oh no" he said "your'e not painting that"

Well the next day,I was blogging away when I decided to stop for morning tea.

It was very quiet in the garden and wondered what hubby was doing out there
Imagine my big surprise when I went to tell him tea was ready

There he was, as the picture below shows

Yes, He was actually painting the little cupboard.

Now I knew it would look nicer

Of cause, I didn't expect it to be done,so hadn't taken a before picture
But you can imagine how it would have been dark wood

We gave away the old stereo that was in here
and use a little record player that is under my little quilt
(It gets a little sun in that corner,so keep it covered)
We are going to replace it with a new stereo
which will take up the space.

Of cause I have stipulated it can't be black like most are
It might be silver like the one in our sitting room
Maybe.

As my hubby is Scottish, the Scottish mountains picture had to stay.
Maybe a white frame might be nice?

I think I'd better leave that one for now and not push my luck LOL

Jeanetteann, what a lovely story. I have a corner cupboard just like yours and Have always wondered what it would be like if I painted it.Now I know. Beautiful. I hope hubby got a big hug for doing the stereo cupboard himself.

I wonder why men like wood and women like painted finishes? Both of your pieces turned out lovely. Glad you have converted both the cabinet and the husband.

Fabulous redos. So charming in white. Nice of hubby to help you. The Scottish mountain is really lovely. I wonder how it would look with a lighter color mat (it
looks like there are pastels in picture that you could pick up on) and a simple black frame. Just a thought. Hugs.

Just beautiful in white - especially with the dark details on the glass!
Definitely your newest follower - would love a follow back when you have the time!

Cute corner cupboard and even cuter surprise! As for the Scottish landscape, maybe a white mount would be enough?

The cabinet looks so good painted white. It really lightens up the corner. What a sweet thing for you hubby to do for you! Tell him great job and it looks awesome.

As for the picture, I think a white frame would be awsome, and maybe an off white or tan matte. It would bring out the mountain better too!

Have a great day my friend.
