Tea Time and Market Day

 Today I had tea with my embroidery lady friends
We sipped our tea from English china teacups. 
 Tea tastes so beautiful sipped from china teacups.

Tuesday,Baking Day

Today,had a lovely long walk to the beach, lunch in the garden,

 and then straight into the baking,

Lemon biscuits,cranberry and sultana biscuits

I made this little tea cosy yesterday while I was making my lacy things from my doiley stash (yesterdays post)

I am joining Sandi from Rose Chintz Cottage today for Tea time Tuesday

I thought I would use my pink depression glass teacups, enjoy your tea  xx

A project from my stash of vintage doilies

I went over to visit my dear blogger friend Kathryn at Writers Reverie

and from there found a new to me blog called Creative Carmelina

I was so inspired by Carmelina's Lace page,

 I got into my doily and lace stash and here's what I made.

I love all my doilies gathered together in a heap,the creative juices really start to flow.

Of cause I had to get out my decoupage papers too.

  I have kept this Victorian Calender since 1994

I originally bought it to cut up, but as you can see,I couldn't bare to put the scissors to it.

Today was no different, it went back to it's shelf in one piece.

These are the ones I did cut,because that's what they were meant for.

Another look at my effort, I had to take two photo's as I couldn't believe how nice it was,ha hum.

                                                Then while I was on a roll, I created this one.

                                                                  I love it in the bedroom.

Who didn't like the story of Cinderella when they were children?  Didn't we all dream of one day meeting our Prince Charming?

Well I found this page from a calender,and a friend copied it onto silk for me. 

 Then I embroidered it. 

I think most of us did end up with our Prince Charming.

 I would like to think you did,anyway,I certainly did.

A little bit of Nostalgia

I felt like a complete change on my dining table today,

I thought I would bring out my late mothers acorn set.

I can remember as a child growing up in the West Midlands of England,

travelling with my parents to the Stoke on Trent potteries to purchase products for our shop.

 The shop sold everything,from china,pottery to groceries and icecreams,a real village store.

 This acorn set was one such set that came from there.  Not much else of the treasures came with us, when we all emigrated to Australia in the 60's, we were restricted on the weight of luggage we could bring.  I remember mum and dad packing and sending 9 tea chests, and that was it.  Infact only 8 ever arrived,so I am very lucky to have this pretty set.

The photo in the vintage frame is of my dad and his sister at a fancy dress party.  My dad would have been 94 now, so it is really old

My tablecloth is cream with chocolate embroidery, a lucky op shop find many years ago.

Enjoying the Australian bush

We were fortunate enough recently, to enjoy a few wonderful days

living in a timber cottage on 25acres in the Australian bush

 We walked the mapped out walks winding around the property, searching out the wild orchids and native plants.  It was a beautiful experience.

                             We spotted many native birds including this one which was huge.

           The Flora became more dense as we went further into the bush,  and the colours so vibrant.

 The beautifully brightly coloured Lorakeets came down to the drinking bowl, even when we were very close, sitting on the deck having breakfast.  I especially loved the little blue wrens.

                                                   The bark on the gumtrees was beautiful

These gorgeous plants are called Black Boys and their flower is a long black spike that comes straight up through the middle. If you look closely, there is a Kangaroo,right in the centre of the photo,standing up watching me.  They blend in with the grey bush.

A little Wren

On our last day,we were sitting inside having breakfast,as it started to rain,when suddenly,a whole family of Kangaroos came quite near to feed, including mum,dad,teenager and a quite large Joey who jumped into his mums pouch.  It was so funny ,as his long legs were sticking out.  I don't know if you can see them in this picture, as I took the photo's through the window,so as not to startle them.

Isn't this the most beautiful plant (Calestemon) Bottle Brush  The birds love it's nectar.
